I Want a Clear Waterbed Filled with Three Koi Fish...

Hellloooooooo   my friends :).

Happy Labor day, and I am sorry for not making a blog ALL WEEKEND!  Bonus for you though, because this one is going to be pretty long because I had a lot of fun things go down this weekend :)!    Let me start by telling you that an awesome friend of mine, Jake West, came up from UCO to spend the weekend with me.  What a champ...  Granted, all he did was make fun of my passion and desire for longboarding, cinematography, photography, Jesus, and several other unmentionable things, but at least he came to visit, which is more than I can say for most of my friends hahaha ;).  Just kidding Jake. I love you.

Saturday was probably the funnest/shortest day of the weekend.  We woke up at about 10 or so to start painting up for the game (see profile pic), and didn't finish getting ready until 2!!!  It took so long! But you know what they say, "When in Rome..."

That actually has nothing to do with the situation, It was just something I heard on a movie preview once...I wanted to say it.  So on the way to the game we were stopped about 40...50 thousand times for photo-ops with tail-gaiters...IDK how you spell that.  Then we waited in like for a few hours, and still ended up on the third row...Sad day because I was hoping to get our normal second row seats so the camera could see us AND show off our great seating to Lauren, who turned out to be the only other one out of like 8 people who were supposed to sit with us...Thank you Lauren for being loyal and following through, even though you bailed at halftime ;).  The game was great however, if you like complete obliteration and lack of competition in your football games, O-State killed The Cougars 65-17...and we stopped trying at halftime...This was a great game to test out the younger group of players we have and get everybody some good game experience.  Our second-string quarterback threw for 120 something yards!  Go Pokes!!!  We are painting up again next weekend, so if you are reading this and thinking, "Hey, I want to be a part of that group!  I want to paint my body Black or Orange and be known as one of the craziest fans in the History if College Football!"  Then just shoot me a text, and be at my room at 8AM on Saturday morning.  My room number is 1032 Kerr Hall, and my number is 580-491-8285.  I am hoping (just a dream) that one of these games we can spell "OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS".  That is 20 letters... So help me out!  It would be fantastic to do something like that!  We play Troy next week, and my goal is to be able to spell, "GO COWBOYS."  To do that, we need to have 9 people, potentially 10, one guy can be the space between the go and the cowboys, hahaha.  So if your interested, then hit me up.

Moving on...Sunday, was great at Church (Lauren ya missed out!)  Tony Dungy gave an interview about being a great Christian Role Model.  So good, he rocks.  After church me an Jake and Matt Fasching just chilled out in my room, with visits from Luke Wilson, Mark Smith, Craig Hansen, and a few others.   I crashed pretty early and got up FAIRLY early today so I can start on some homework, but here I sit procrastinating, haha...  I still can't get a few things off my mind, try as I might.

One of those things is this absolutely amazing camera... its called the Canon EOS 7D...I recommend looking it up and seeing for yourself because my words simply cannot describe the beauty and elegance of its filming capability.  Nothing short of stunning, however, comes with a price that equally short of stunning... averaging at $1600 with a standard lens.  And Lenses cost about 600 bucks...  Isn't it strange how - on average - the worldly things people (I) want in this world seem to cost close to what my first car did...?  For example - a 42" Vizio=$1200-ish...  A Lovesac "Big One"=$1700-ish...  An iMac for Architecture-$2200-ish...  silly really... but I rejoice in the fact that I can't afford ANY of these things because If I could afford them, and followed through buying any single one, how far would that one thing pull me away from God?  I'm not trying to be preachy here, but think about it...  Why does God not want me to be able to afford the things I want?  Because He has called us to want Him more than anything.  God should be not only enough for us, but all we ever want and then some.  We should be devoured by His overwhelming love for us to the point that we are blind to the things of this world.  I am not accusing anybody either... otherwise I would be a hypocrite.  I have shown you my fault in wanting things of this world and questioning God in why I could not have the expenses to obtain them.  I just want to share this testimony with you, something that God put my heart.
Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, and Luke 21:33 all say the exact same thing, word for word.  They say this:
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."
I discovered this this morning and realized for the millionth time that the things in and of this world, such as computers, cameras, televisions...  They absolutely do not matter in any way.  When we die and meet God face to face, do you really think He will give a hoot about the quality of the Canon EOS 7D?  The things of this earth will come and they will go, The Canon 7D will be a forgotten antique in ten years, and something twice as fancy and twice as expensive will be available.
But God's Word...That my friends, lasts forever.  They were here when we arrived, unchanged since the beginning of time, and will be here for the rest of time, long after we are dead gone, unchanged both in quality - perfect- and in price - free.

If you are like me, and pursuing something of this world more than you are pursuing God's word and a relationship with Him, then my prayer for you is that you will take His words to heart today, let Him come into your life and remove the desire to have such things, and fill your heart with passion and love for Him, that He may work in you to invest your money or lack there-of not in things of this world, but in furthering His holy and perfect kingdom.  I love you guys so much, and thanks for hearing this testimony of mine.  I ask that you pray for me as well, that I will stop wanting to buy these extravagant things for myself, that I would invest in His kingdom.
Amen.
